The film tells the story of the overthrow of the coup d'etat against elected government in Haiti that was carried out in 2004 by Haitian paramilitaries acting on behalf of that country's economic elite, in alliance with the U.S., Canadian and European governments. It describes the crushing embargo on aid and development loans that was imposed against the government of President Jean-Bertrand Aristide by the large countries named above. President Aristide and his party were elected to office by a large majority of the Haitian people in the year 2000.
