Haiti Liberté's Kim Ives speaks about Haiti today
Submitted by CHAN on August 10, 2012 - 07:18
July 26, 2012--Kim Ives, journalist and co-founder of the international weekly newspaper Haiti Liberté, explains the current political situation in Haiti and neighboring countries, the struggle of the people for control of their economy against US imposed policies undermining pro-people economic development, and resisting President Martelly's and Bill Clinton's pro-rich orientation that is turning Haiti into a $5 a day cheap-labor center, preventing the people sharing even in their gold wealth. From Haiti Liberté's New York office (where he's based), Ives walks us through Haiti's early history until the present, including the U.S. removal of President Jean-Bertrand Aristide from power in 2004 and the former president's current role. A production of Joe Friendly, a left video personage and institution in New York City.
